Creating Truth Nuggets

Creating Truth Nuggets is straightforward. Follow these steps to add facts about your organization.

Creating Your First Truth Nugget

Step 1: Navigate to Truth Nuggets

From the main dashboard, click Knowledge Base in the left sidebar, then select Truth Nuggets.

Step 2: Click “Add Truth Nugget”

You’ll see the creation form with these fields:

Fact Text (Required)

  • Enter the fact itself
  • Be specific and verifiable
  • Examples: “CEO is Sarah Chen”, “Founded in 2024”, “API response time <200ms”

Category (Required)

  • Choose from: Company, Products, Leadership, Financial, Technical, Legal, Competitive
  • Pick the most relevant category
  • You can recategorize later

Confidence Score (Required, default 0.95)

  • Range: 0.0 to 1.0
  • 1.0 = absolute certainty (verifiable fact)
  • 0.7-0.9 = estimates or reasonable claims
  • Guidance: Link below for confidence scoring

Source URL (Optional, Recommended)

  • Paste a link to where you found/verified the fact
  • Creates an audit trail
  • Helps with compliance and disputes
  • Examples: your website, SEC filings, press releases, internal wikis

Expiry Date (Optional)

  • Choose when the fact becomes outdated
  • Leave blank for evergreen facts
  • Set for quarterly financials, temporary claims, etc.
  • Shield stops using expired nuggets automatically

Step 3: Save

Click Save to create the nugget. It’s active immediately.

Creating Multiple Nuggets Efficiently

If you have 10-100 facts to add, use these approaches:

Bulk Import (Fastest)

See Bulk Import Guide for CSV/JSON upload.

Batch Mode

Add 3-5 related nuggets in one session:

  1. Click Add Truth Nugget
  2. Fill form and save
  3. Nugget appears in list
  4. Click Add Truth Nugget again
  5. Repeat

Onboarding Wizard

During signup or reset, the wizard guides you through facts discovery and entry. Recommended for first-time setup.

Example: Creating a Product Nugget

Let’s create a fact about your product:

  1. Fact Text: “TruthVouch Shield monitors 9+ AI engines with 94% detection accuracy”
  2. Category: Products
  3. Confidence: 0.95 (based on published benchmarks)
  4. Source: https://your-company.com/benchmarks
  5. Expiry: Leave blank (evergreen)
  6. Save

Shield now checks every AI response against this fact. If an AI engine claims you only monitor 5 engines, or detection is 85%, Shield flags it.

Example: Creating a Financial Nugget (Time-Sensitive)

  1. Fact Text: “Q4 2025 revenue was $2.3M”
  2. Category: Financial
  3. Confidence: 1.0 (from audited financials)
  4. Source: https://internal.company.com/financials (or public SEC filing)
  5. Expiry: 2026-03-31 (next quarter release)
  6. Save

When expiry arrives, you’ll get a reminder. Update to Q1 2026 figures or remove if confidential.

Tips for Good Nuggets

Be Specific

Bad: “We have lots of customers” Good: “Trusted by 500+ enterprises across 30 countries”

One Fact Per Nugget

Bad: “Founded in 2024 and located in SF” Good: Two separate nuggets — one for founding date, one for location

Include Dates When Relevant

Bad: “We processed 2B tokens” Good: “We processed 2B tokens in January 2026”

Use Source URLs

Every nugget should have a link to verify it. This helps:

  • You remember why you trusted the fact
  • Compliance officers in audits
  • Resolving disputes

Choose Appropriate Confidence

  • Internal knowledge (headcount, founding date): 0.95-1.0
  • Published claims (benchmarks, features): 0.95-1.0
  • Estimates (market share, projections): 0.7-0.9
  • Subjective claims (“best in class”): 0.6-0.8
